The Nuts and Bolts

white.png

At NannyBoo’s Pre-K we make good friends, explore our neighborhood, and bring classroom concepts to life through play based learning! Children learn best when we engage their whole person (body, mind, and emotions). We give ample opportunities for them to move, enjoy the outdoors, engage their senses, pursue their questions, and share their discoveries with others!

Fun is at the forefront of all we do. Whether it is forming letters out of classmates, counting worms on the way to the park, or adding “treasures” to our classroom museum - school should be fun. When academics are presented with passion, intrigue, variety and laughter, children eagerly engage, play, and learn.

With Kindergarten Readiness at the heart of our program, we are intentional about skill building and preparing children to be successful in the classroom, and in life. With support, children learn to navigate large group, small group, and independent work as well as adjust to the schedule, structure, and expectations of a classroom.

Each child comes in with a unique blend of experiences, strengths and challenges. We delight in tuning into each child and understanding their preferences as a person and learner. Throughout the day we engage in hands-on activities that develop their cognitive, physical, and social-emotional skills. We observe each child’s comfort level with various tasks, and determine when they are ready for the next challenging but doable step. And of course, we celebrate their effort throughout the year!

We have a passion for building classroom community and instilling good friend skills. Positive peer contact is built into each lesson and facilitated throughout the day. This results in a highly connected classroom where children are not only bonded to a caring teacher, but to the class as a whole. When trust and safety are experienced in the classroom, children discover that working through difficult emotions, challenges, and problems with others is all a part of a good Pre-K day!
